The Best and Most Unique Things To Do In Seville, Spain

  1. Tapas and Sangria

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. But when in Spain, eat Tapas and drink Sangria whenever you can! I can give you a list of places I personally recommend, but better than that is to ask a local for their favorite and frequented spot in town! Truth be told, no matter where you stop, you won’t be disappointed. Ordering family-style allows for everyone to taste test a bit of everything and makes for a wider variety at the table.

Recommendations:

  • La Taberna la Encarnación

  • Restaurante Taberna Mármol

Cost: 10€-20€

Duration: 1-2 hours

  1. Horseback Riding

While the city of Seville itself is beautiful, most people that travel there take the countryside for granted. A short 25 minute drive outside the city center you can find Centro Ecuestre El Acebuche, where you can book a 2 hour ride for under 90,00€! If you go during early summer, you’ll find fields of sunflowers as far as the eye can see. 🌻 I’m all about unique experiences, and this made the top of my list.

Cost: 90,00€

Duration: 2 hours

  1. Plaza de Espana

This beautiful plaza was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is located within the Parque de María Luisa (Maria Luisa Park). We spent half a day here, exploring, sipping on slushies and eating ice cream. There are always ducks you can feed, small rowboats for rent and a local “Guitarrista” or two playing a raw and emotional tune on their guitar. Maria Luisa Park can take you a whole day to explore. With plazas, trails and shaded seating a walk in the park can feel like an entire world away from the downtown Seville streets.

  1. Flamenco Show

Flamenco originated in Andalusia, Spain, and some say the birthplace was in Seville, more specifically in the Triana neighborhood. It’s a singular art form that expresses pain and sadness, and is often raw and improvisational. Right in the city center is the easily accessible Casa de la Memoria. For 22,00€ you can see an hour-long show by local professional artists. You’ll experience dancers, guitarists and singers in an authentic and raw performance that moved me and my travel companions to tears.

Address: C. Cuna, 6, Casco Antiguo, 41004 Sevilla, Spain

Cost: 22,00€

Duration: 1 hour

  1. Walking Tour

Like any other historically significant city, there are so many stories and well kept secrets you can only learn from locals. There are so many different services and companies where you can sign up for a walking tour. My personal favorite is Guru Walking Tours because they do not have set fees. Instead, all tour guides only request a tip based donation at the end. This makes it much more affordable for visitors and encourages guides to give their absolute best.

Cost: FREE (+$10 tip)

Duration: 1-3 hours
